Far Cry 2 has a lot to live up to. The first Far Cry, developed by Crytek, was critically lauded among reviewers and loved by gamers the world over. Ubisoft Montreal has a lot to live up to. Fortunately, it's been working its French Canadian fingers to the bone to do just that.
Breaking away from previous games in the series, players are whisked off to the wilds of Africa. The premise is simple - there's an arms dealer out and about going by the name of The Jackal. He's been playing local warring factions off against each other because... well, it's good for business. Your job is to take him out.
Two things stand out about Far Cry 2. The first is the sheer size of the game. Players are presented with an open world that's a massive 50 square kilometres in total, all resplendent with detail. Second is just how much effort has gone into the design. Things work as they're meant to work. Take fire, for instance. If you're approaching a settlement you need to attack and the wind's at your back, setting the dry grass alight will serve you well, because the flames will blow towards your opponent and get your attack nicely underway. Try it with the wind blowing the other way, however, and you'll find yourself getting singed at least.
All this comes complete with a full online multiplayer mode that packs all of the above into the opportunity to blow your mates' - and strangers - brains out.

Great Game 8/10, Amazing free world FPS game with the best map editior ever created, You can build anything let your imagination run wild, With around 20 hours of single player gameplay and a large selection of easy achevements, Far cry 2 is a nevereding fun. With out standing multiplayer and amazing realism and AI intelligence UBI have used all that they have learned from Rainbow 6 and made a giant bundle of free roaming action.

this game is alright, not the best, i thought it would be fun just walking about killing, but i got really bored of doing that quickly. overall i give it an 8/10

Hi, im Tom Cassell and im reviewing Far Cry 2. I beleive far cry to is in all a good game with the good feature of natural weather that changes constantly and with the fact that gun that are not yours can loose mantinence and can break therefore this allows you to interact with the game more this also goes for healing your self for example if your on fire on a certain part of your boby you can just simply pat it out and if you have been shot for example in the arm you just push it right out the other side [the reality its amazing]. The best featura about Far Cry 2 would definately have to be the map makeing feature carried on and improved from Far Cry Instincts Preditor, but this featuire enables yourself to make a unique map and then publish it online to play with others for them then to be able to download and use your map online or offline in a private match.
