Quests come in one form: shoot things.
That may sound boring to those tired of the multitude of shooters on the market but Borderlands still retains its fun even after your third playthrough. The presence of loot and randomly-generated guns doesn't force you to tackle every quest you can find, it makes you want to do them. You'll end up pouring hours upon hours of time into this game and every second of it will be fun.
Better yet, if you persuade a friend or three to buy it too you can go through the entire game together. This provides an extra challenge as it ramps up the difficulty far beyond that of the single-player game.
I couldn't recommend this game more. I am not a fan of 100+ hour RPGs. I prefer the simple shooting game. But I have reach 50 hours in this game and am not bored. This game is just fun!
While you're at it pick up some xbox points for the excellent DLC the game has to offer. It is the only DLC out there that is WORTH the money.

There are very few true RPG elements in this. As for the thousands upon thousands of guns, it's just very slightly different looking guns doing exactly the same thing as each other. Plays ok but gets boring after the poor and disappointing ending.

This game is truly fantastic.
The graphics are stunning, and really define the comic like genre. The solid black lines around the character add to the comic experience and the gun/fire/shock/corrode, heck everything, are spectacular.
The gameplay is brilliant, and defines a new generation of the FPS RPG genre. Whether you feel like headshotting some skags, melting some bandit's faces or just blowing the limbs off of some crimson lance, there will always be something to do. The vast range of weapons adds to the playability, as you never know what to expect.
The characters special abilities are truly inspirational and the first person style will make you feel like you are really there. The enrage of Brick, invisibility of Lilith, Bloodwing for Mordecai or the Scorpio turret for Roland will truly influence your view on tactics and gameplay.
Overall, I would give this game a 9/10, as it is truly brilliant in every aspect, however, gets repetitive after the 2nd playthrough.
