Far Cry 2 Product Details

Released on 24/10/2008.

Far Cry 2 has a lot to live up to. The first Far Cry, developed by Crytek, was critically lauded among reviewers and loved by gamers the world over. Ubisoft Montreal has a lot to live up to. Fortunately, it's been working its French Canadian fingers to the bone to do just that.

Breaking away from previous games in the series, players are whisked off to the wilds of Africa. The premise is simple - there's an arms dealer out and about going by the name of The Jackal. He's been playing local warring factions off against each other because... well, it's good for business. Your job is to take him out.

Two things stand out about Far Cry 2. The first is the sheer size of the game. Players are presented with an open world that's a massive 50 square kilometres in total, all resplendent with detail. Second is just how much effort has gone into the design. Things work as they're meant to work. Take fire, for instance. If you're approaching a settlement you need to attack and the wind's at your back, setting the dry grass alight will serve you well, because the flames will blow towards your opponent and get your attack nicely underway. Try it with the wind blowing the other way, however, and you'll find yourself getting singed at least.

All this comes complete with a full online multiplayer mode that packs all of the above into the opportunity to blow your mates' - and strangers - brains out.
  • Ubisoft would be bonkers not to make Far Cry 3. The lavish, open world shooter series has given us some of our favourite gaming moments over the past decade, and wee itching for more. Good news: it starting to look like the French publisher might have a reveal planned for next month E3!

As if often the case with rumours, reports come via Eurogamer from Superannuation, an internet videogames sleuth, who been tracking mentions of Far Cry 3 for a while. Several stuntmen list the game on their online CVs, while a Ubisoft programmer LinkedIn profile explains that he working on an ndisclosed first-person shooterfor the PS3 and Xbox 360, and that it has xotic gameplayand cripted events That sounds very Far Cry to us.

Then there the Ubisoft animator whose LinkedIn write-up flat out says that he working on Far Cry 3, and the fact that numerous retailers accidentally put CollectorsEditions of the games up on their sites. Sounds rather conclusive.

Ubisoft isn commenting at the moment, but wee very, very excited about this one. If we hear anything else and wee pretty sure we will rest assured youl be the first to know.

my thoughts
this game i got like 2 week ago and i love it. i love the map making the gameplay the graphics every thing. but theres a few things i dont like which is the single player is abit of a drag to much travelling. and the other is map making its amazing at what you can create but think if you could create it with friends. you could make such amazing maps. i have had the game about 2 weeks and i have been told by friends and recent players that i am amazing at map building. i havent played far cry predator. but i have to say i would defenatly reccomend this to every one. on xbox live its 14.99 or 1860MP on market place get it its amazing. check my game station for my xbox live gamertag
